What is Mindful Action Coaching
Mindful action Coaching is a research project. We aim to explore how mindful action might be
cultivated in a coaching programme involving elements of yoga practice.
Yoga teaches
us mindfulness in the way we move our bodies - the primary result of thinking creating
action. Through practice of posture, we strengthen the loop between thinking and
action, so that intention becomes movement and movement fed back through sensation
to intention.
Even the highly able can be prone to too much thinking without effective action or ill-considered action. This may be over consultation, gathering and collating data beyond
that needed for a rational decision or conversely, acting on incomplete or inaccurate
assumptions.
This research hopes to enhance the coaching process to enable a more mindful
encounter between coach and client, where thinking, feeling, deciding and acting are
balanced, and more mindful action is taken by the client in their outer world.
